I haven’t always been into fitness but since the pandemic hit, I’ve decided to change that. I’ve been working out hard for the past few months. Not only have I lost 30 lbs. pounds but I’ve gained so much more. I’ve gained confidence, stamina, a great looking butt ( so my fiancé says). I just wanted to share some of my favorite workout essentials that I just couldn’t go with out.
These items are sure to help you achieve your fitness goals.
Get some pre-work out
Pre-work out is a must have for me! I used to always dred working out. My excuse was “Ugh… I’m too tired.”
Well not anymore! Now I look forward to my work outs and my pre-work out beverage. I’ve tried countless different types of these drinks. Some of them make me too jittery, give me a head ache, or don’t help me focus. I’ve finally narrowed it down to my top two favorites.
Here we have Mr. Hyde and The Aggressive Labz “Jakked AF”. These are both great pre-work outs. They will give you energy, help you focus and prevent you from not getting as sore post work out.
Get a water bottle to take EVERYWHERE with you
If you want to get into shape, you must stay hydrated. Its a great idea to make a water bottle one of your workout essentials, or fitness essentials.
It can also help you eat less. If I’m ever trying to sneak to the kitchen for a snack, i remind myself to slam a big glass of water first. Then see if I’m still hungry. Most of the time, I was either just bored or thirsty.
I have my yeti cup that i bring with me just about everywhere. I covered it in fun stickers to personalize it a bit. It keeps ice for hours!!
I also have a bunch of blender bottle for my work outs. They have an awesome measuring tool on the side for making your pre and post work out beverages. Also, they close tight and no water leaks out. So you are safe to set it down where ever and don’t have to worry about spillage.
They come in a bunch of fun different colors and you also get a neat little whisk ball to use if you plan to make any protien shakes.
A great bra
There’s no doubt that a great bra is one of my favorite work out essentials. A good bra can make all the difference. One of my favorite bras is the Nike Victory Compression Sports bra. It holds the girls in place when i’m jumping around, super comfy to wear and it lasts for a long time.
Another great brand of bra is the Yvette Women High Impact. These bras are a little more cost efficient than Nike but still offer great support and comfort. They also have those cute criss-cross straps! Another great plus about the Yvette bra is they have adjustable options. Which is great for when you start losing weight!
Some cute and comfy work out clothes
The better you look, the better you feel! If you want to get serious about working out, I highly recommend getting yourself a couple of super cute active wear outfits. I know it sounds silly, but it worked for me. Cute workout gear is my favorite workout essentials.
I used to wear just some cheap leggings and a t-shirt. Yeah, I finished my work out but I didn’t smash my workouts like a beast. After I lost a few pounds I rewarded myself with a super cute pair of leggings from Victorias Secret. The next time I went to the gym, I went with a whole new confidence. With that new found confidence, I kicked my workouts ass. It felt awesome.
So seriously, get a cute outfit that brings out your confidence. It will make a world of difference.
You need good shoes
I’ve never been a fan of shoes, much less tennis shoes. So I always just used a pair of ol’ hand-me-downs and called it good. Until I got serious about weight lifting, that is. Now they have made it to my life of workout essentials.
The shoes I was using made me feel unstable when I was lifting heavy. It was not good.
So, I went to my local Scheels and told the salesman what I was looking for in a shoe. I tried on at least 15 different pairs of shoes! My daughter was so annoyed.
I finally settled on the Nike Metcon. They are specifically designed for weight lifting and they fit my wide foot perfect! If you are a fan of weightlifting, I highly recommend you check them out.
If you’re not a big fan of lifting, that’s cool too. Just make sure you get the right shoes for the type of exercise you like doing. I never knew shoes would end up being a workout essential to me. But I am so glad I found the right shoes. It has really made a huge difference in my performance.
Music is an absolute must when I’m putting in work. I’ve tried going with out (I forgot my head phones) but I just couldn’t get into that zone. Now, make sure my head phones and phone is charged before a work out. I love how it helps me block out EVERYTHING. I can block out the other people at the gym, any issues I have going on and the fact that my legs feel like jelly.
Personally, I prefer the wireless over the ear head phones. I recently just acquired a pair of “Beats by Dre” and they are totally badass. ( And totally expensive) but i have found that they are worth it.
If you are interested in something a little less pricey, Walmart has a brand called “Uproar Wireless”. I rocked a pair of their head phones for years. I actually still have that pair of head phones. They always worked for me. My only issue was after years of using them, the foam on the ear pieces started to fall a part and they don’t get as loud as they used too. But they still work for guided meditation before bed.
