The holidays are approaching and to many, including myself, it cam seem daunting. Christmas is supposed to be a time of caring and cheer. But for many, it can be a very stressful time of year. There’s more gifts to buy than money, family plans to make, not enough sunlight during the day and so much more. If you are feeling overwhelmed, don’t worry. I have put together some great tips to help you have a stress free Christmas.
Take care of you
While you are busy running around making sure everything else is taken care of, don’t forget to set aside time for some self care. Get you nails done, buy a new candle, drink a glass of wine, watch your favorite show. The options are endless, Just make sure you are taking care of you, too.

Don’t stress on the gifts
I know gifts are a huge part of the holidays but there is absolutely no reason to go broke over it. Its not about the amount of money spent on the gift, its the thought behind it.
You do not have to buy something for every one. Normally, I only get gifts for my house hold and maybe a couple little things for extended family. Just because some one bought you something, it doesn’t make you obligated to get them a gift in return
Have fun with it
Turn on the Christmas music, have a glass of wine, set up what Christmas decorations you have. Make some Christmas crafts. Find something to get excited about.
Do what ever you need to do to have fun this holiday season. Having fun is one of the best way to have a stress free Christmas.
Do not compare your Christmas to others
Yeah, the house down the road may have more yard décor. Your Facebook is full of other family’s on lavish vacations. Little Susie got a new Xbox while your kids got socks. I know it might feel like its not fair, but life’s not fair. The only time you should look at your neighbors bowl is to make sure they have enough to eat. Never to compare.
If you want to have a stress free Christmas, don’t let what other people are doing get you down. You are doing a great job. What you provide is enough. The only family you should focus on right now is your own.
Help Some one if you can
‘Tis the season for giving. There’s just something about helping some one else that makes a person feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Here are a few examples of how you can help:
- Donate time to a local soup kitchen.
- Go walk dogs at a humane society
- Shovel your neighbors side walk
- Help a friend decorate for the holidays
- Buy some ones meal at a restaurant
- Donate unwanted clothing to those in need
Give yourself grace
Be kind to yourself. You deserve it. You’re doing a great job and you know it. Don’t let negative thoughts pollute your mind and tell you that you are not doing enough. Because you are. You are doing more than enough.
At the end of the day, what will be remembered is how hard you work. The sacrifices you made will be remembered long after those gifts are forgotten in the bottom of a closest. You got this. You are awesome.
I hope these tips help you have a beautiful, stress free Christmas.
