Valentines day is just around the corner and I am so excited. I love all the love you can feel in the air and lets face it, I’m a sucker for celebrating things. For Valentines day, there are always a lot of gift options. Flowers, chocolates, expensive jewelry, fancy undies. But my favorite are the homemade gifts. For me, its not about how expensive or fancy the gift is. I prefer things that are meaningful and come from the heart.
I have put together some of my favorite homemade valentines gifts. These gifts are great for any one and every one.
Hand written notes
Literature is my love language and nothing makes me feel more fuzzy inside than a good old fashioned hand written note.
This gift can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. It always works great for all ages!!! There are many different ways to go about it to. Below are a couple ideas:
Sticky note suprises
This is a fun one. I love leaving heart warming little notes around for some one to find. This is especially fun for the kids. Fun idea: Write a reason why you love them every day on a sticky note for a week leading up to valentines day.
Handwritten love letter
You can never go wrong with a long winded, handwritten love letter. Don’t hold back and get all mushy gushy.
“My love burns for you like the heat of a thousand suns.”Fairly odd parents TV show
Take your time and put some thought into it. Dig up those details about why you love them.
Hand written notes are an amazing homemade gift. They are awesome because any one, any age can make it or receive it.
Time to break out the arts and craft supplies! Making cards is so much fun. There is no limit to creativity. You can be funny, silly, sweet or sassy.
This homemade gift is especially fun for kids. I know my kids love when I start breaking out the supplies and tell them we are making cards.

What a better way to tell some one you love them than handing them a picture of the two of you together?
There are a few ways you can go about the homemade gift as well. One simple way is to jump over to your local dollar store ro thrift store and grab a couple of those “cost efficient” frames. Then you can go ahead and add on what ever sort of décor you like.
Another fun way to make picture frames is with… (drum roll please)… yeah, you guessed it. Popsicle Sticks!!!

Gift baskets are so much fun and easy to make. You can make it as simple or extravagant as you want. I like to get my supplies for gift baskets at the dollar store. For kids baskets you can add things like candles, oven mitts, treats, a soft blanket, socks, ponytails. For the adults, its always fun to add a couple little shooters, a fun new wine glass or can koozie.
No matter what you put in it, gift baskets are a great homemade gift!
Who doesn’t love a good coupon?
You can find templates on pinterest for editable coupons or you can always make them yourself. Just grab a stack of index cards and start writing and decorating.
Homemade coupons are a lot of fun. You can make some for the kids that say something like:
- Get out of chores for a day
- You get to pick supper tonight
- One on one time with Mom/Dad/Step parent/ aunt/ uncle, etc.
- Movie night
- Stay up late
Or, you can make these coupons for your significant other. And they can be as clean or dirty as you want. Its a great way to spice things up.
